CHALLENGE David Goggins is known for extreme mental and physical resilience, but the original Can’t Hurt Me cover didn’t fully reflect the intensity and transformation at the heart of his story. The challenge was to reinterpret the cover in a way that visually matched the message.
SOLUTION I explored the idea of being “carved in stone” as a metaphor for Goggins’ transformation through discipline and willpower. After getting my hands dirty, the final concept featured a ‘stone-carved’ bust of Goggins, symbolising strength, permanence and the relentless process of reshaping oneself. The result was a visual that mirrored the grit readers experience throughout the book.
RESULT The redesigned cover presents the story with a stronger emotional and visual alignment to its message. It transforms the book into something that immediately communicates resilience, endurance and the unbreakable mindset at its core.
